Finally watched ‘Network’ for the first time last night.

Classic and still relevant.

“You get up on your little twenty-one inch screen and howl about America and democracy. There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM and ITT and AT&T and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide, and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today. What do you think the Russians talk about in their councils of state — Karl Marx? “ - Arthur Jensen

End of an era.

Hastings Pier. 1872-2010.
Photography by Jay Purcell

The Hastings pier was opened on 5 August 1872.
The 2,000 seat pavilion played host to The Rolling Stones, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, and Pink Floyd.
Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett played his last ever show with the band here, on January 20, 1968.
The Pier burned down on Tuesday, October 5, 2010.
The cause was arson.
No one has ever been caught.
