 | Aug 11 / 2009 / 11:57pm I needed to link to this movie ‘Highway Patrolman’, from UK director Alex Cox. I rented this on a whim about 5 years ago, and the film has been lodged in memory ever since. The film centers around rookie Mexican Highway Patrol Officer, Pedro Rojas, as he makes the transition from cadet to his first assignment in a northern border area. Corruption ensues and he has to quickly reform his youthful, idealistic outlook to adapt to the harsh realities surrounding him. The film then takes many excellent turns that I could not have anticipated. In my memory, it is a masterpiece. It is very hard to track down and unfortunately I couldn’t even find a trailer or any clips on YouTube. If you ever get the chance to see this movie, please do! It’s a gem.
